MyLocal Terms of Use

Effective date: November 3, 2026

Changes from the terms effective November 1, 2026: section 7 now says that the licenses and conditions of third-party data prevail over these terms.

These terms set the conditions for using the MyLocal app and the background component (mylocald) and command line tool (mylocal) installed with it (together, "MyLocal"), provided by MyIAM Inc. (the "Company"). By installing or using MyLocal you agree to these terms.

1. License

The Company grants you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use MyLocal. You may use it for personal purposes and for commercial purposes, including your work for a company, on the Macs you use.

2. Restrictions

You must not:

  • sell, rent or redistribute MyLocal, or transfer the right to use it to others;
  • modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble MyLocal, except as far as applicable law allows;
  • remove or change copyright or other notices shown in MyLocal;
  • use MyLocal to break the law or infringe the rights of others, such as stopping processes on someone else's computer without their consent.

3. What MyLocal does, and what you check

When the work hours you set end, MyLocal finds the development servers and containers running under your account and stops them. By default it stops only servers that can be reached from outside; depending on your settings it also stops servers reachable only from this Mac. For a server run by a supervisor that starts it again (such as nodemon) or by a launchd service (such as brew services), it may stop that supervisor or service along with it. The Company provides these safeguards:

  • Once installed, it runs in a mode that records without stopping anything (dry run). It stops servers only after you turn cleanup on with "Start cleanup" in the first-run guide or in the General tab.
  • Cleanup at the end of work hours is announced with a warning, and you can snooze it. Right before the Mac goes to sleep, however, it may clean up without a warning.
  • It never cleans up system processes, Docker runtimes, VPNs or other users' processes, among others.
  • It never starts again what it cleaned up.

Before turning on actual cleanup, check that your schedule and rules work as you intend, and keep the servers that must not stop with keep rules. Stopping a server can lose unsaved data or work in progress, so save important work beforehand or protect it with keep rules.

4. Paid offerings and changes to these terms

The Company may offer all or part of MyLocal for a fee, starting with future versions. You may keep using a free version you have already installed, and a paid version applies only if you check its price and separately agree to it. The Company may add, change or discontinue features.

When the Company changes these terms, it announces the effective date and the changes in the app or on a website it designates at least 7 days before they take effect, or 30 days before for changes unfavorable to you. If you do not agree to the changed terms, you may stop using MyLocal and delete it. Continuing to use it after the effective date means you agree to the changed terms.

5. Updates

The Company may provide updates to fix errors or improve features. These terms apply to updates too. The Company is not obliged to keep providing updates.

6. Ownership

Copyright and other intellectual property rights in MyLocal, its source code, documentation, name and icons belong to the Company. These terms give you no rights other than the right of use in section 1.

7. Open source components and third-party data

MyLocal includes third-party open source software. Each component is governed by its own open source license, which prevails over these terms for that component. The list and the license texts are in the app under About > Open source licenses.

The support information and security advisories MyLocal shows are based on data published by third parties. That data is governed by the license and conditions of its source, which prevail over these terms for that data. The sources and their licenses are in the same place.

8. No warranty

MyLocal is provided free of charge and "as is". To the extent permitted by law, the Company does not warrant that MyLocal works without errors, fits a particular purpose, finds every development server, or works without conflicts with other software.

The versions, support status, known security advisories and tunnel information that MyLocal shows are reference information based on executable paths, command lines and data published by third parties (such as endoflife.date, OSV, NVD and CISA KEV). They are not a security scan or assessment. The Company does not warrant that this information is accurate, complete or current. A version may be misread, a vulnerability or tunnel that exists may not be shown, and an advisory that does not affect your server may be shown. That no advisory or tunnel is shown does not mean you are safe. Before making security decisions or taking action, including updating, check the official information from the provider of the software yourself.

9. Limitation of liability

Except in cases of the Company's intent or gross negligence, the Company is not liable for damages arising from using or being unable to use MyLocal, including data loss, interrupted work and business losses caused by MyLocal stopping or not stopping processes or containers, and damages caused by errors or omissions in the reference information described in section 8 or by acting or not acting in reliance on it.

10. Privacy

MyLocal sends none of your information to the Company. The information MyLocal handles on your Mac is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Termination

Your right of use ends without notice if you breach these terms. You must then stop using MyLocal and delete it. You may end your use at any time by deleting MyLocal.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes between the Company and you concerning MyLocal are settled by the court with jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of Korea.

13. Feedback and problem reports

You decide what you send through the GitHub repository or by email, and you are responsible for it. Anyone can see what you post in the GitHub repository, so do not post passwords, tokens, internal company information or other people's personal information. Diagnostics copied from MyLocal can also hold project folder names, port numbers and log lines, so check them before you post.

If you post something by mistake, tell us at contact@myiam.io. The Company can delete or hide the post, but cannot recall what has already been copied or forwarded. If a password or token was made public, revoke it right away.

The Company may use the feedback you send to improve MyLocal, without compensation or any other obligation.
